About the Program

Four-out-of-seven people in Boston are immigrants, with the largest (1/3) concentration being in the Dorchester area of the City.  SMCEP is one of less than ten programs (outside of local universities and colleges) in the metropolitan area that services this diverse population and is the only one that offers classes on Sunday mornings.

To achieve our goal of educating immigrant adults in English language acquisition, SMCEP presents various programs to help the immigrant community in and around Dorchester acquire the language skills necessary to obtain jobs and citizenship to become full members of American society:

    ESOL Classes are held according to the following schedule: Sundays: 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon (Level 1 and Level 2+ classes)* Mondays and Wednesdays: 6:30-9:00 PM (Level 2 and Level 3 classes) Tuesdays and Thursdays: 6:30-9:00 PM – (Level 1 class)
