Conversation Group Volunteer Positions
INTRODUCTION
In addition to our classes, St. Mark's runs online conversation groups that provide an opportunity for students with a moderate level of English to increase their vocabulary, learn American idioms and slang, and develop greater fluency.
Each group meets weekly for 60 to 90 minutes. Weekday classes typically start at 6 PM. We may also have a Saturday morning option.
CONVERSATION GROUP FACILITATORS
We are seeking motivated volunteers to serve as Conversation Group Facilitators. These are remote volunteer positions and training will be provided. We welcome seniors, retirees, corporate volunteers, and other interested parties to apply.
Tasks include:

Sending weekly reminder emails to group participants and tracking attendance

Preparing content (e.g. conversation prompts) for each weekly session

Encouraging and facilitating discussions, and helping to make those discussions a learning experience
Preferred qualifications:

Prior teaching or tutoring experience would be a plus, but isn't required

Ability to operate Zoom

A willingness to commit for at least 6 months

A time commitment of approximately 2.5 hours per week (this includes prep time)

CONVERSATION GROUP COORDINATOR
We also periodically hire a conversation group coordinator. This is also a remote volunteer position, with training provided.
Tasks:

Work with our Volunteer Coordinator to recruit, train, and oversee conversation group facilitators

Help to expand the conversation group program

Monitor groups
-
Compile conversation group resources
The position requires a time commitment of approximately 3 hours per week for at least 6 months to a year. It’s a great opportunity to engage in meaningful work, and we’d love to have you join our team!
