Medical Interpreters are in demand and they provide a very essential service to both patients and medical practitioners.
Bunker Hill Community College (BHCC) offers a 10-week Medical Interpreter Program in collaboration with Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH).
The program seeks people who are fluent in Spanish, Portuguese, Mandarine Chinese, Arabic, and/or Haitian Creole (as well as English).
Program Overview
In collaboration with BWH, the program includes:
60 hours of remote instruction
Up to 20 hours of preparation for the national certification exam (NBCMI – National Board of Certified Medical Interpreters)
40-hour internship at BWH
There are 18 seats available in the program each cycle, and the cost is around $1700 (that doesn't include the certification exam fee). There may be some financial assistance available to eligible applicants.

Great opportunity, language skills saving lives in real time. Programs like this make me think of The Good Doctor or the docuseries Lenox Hill (both streaming), where interpreters quietly hold entire conversations — and outcomes — together. If you’re fluent in any of those languages, this free BHCC program sounds like a smart and meaningful way to start a career that truly matters.
